Below is a short clip from the opening measures of “Home On The Range”

As you may know, in the Chord/Melody format there is not fingerpicking involved. . . Simply press down the appropriate strings and brush the thumb across the strings. . . However, make note that you do not always brush all 4 strings. . . This is quite different from standard strumming to accompany singing. . . . For instance, in the first measure above we have but just one single note . . The 2nd fret on the 3rd string . . . Then we brush 2 strings together with the melody still on the 3rd string 2nd fret . . . then the melody progresses as single notes again up to the 2nd string 3rd fret then the 1st string open. That’s what the zero indicates. . . an open string. . . .Then in the 3rd measure we do brush all 4 strings for the first time. This does take some time and patience to get used to this but the work is well worth it. You will reap the rewards of solo instrumental performance.
Here is another short clip from this arrangement:

In this example notice the second measure. . . to play the Cm chord we do need to barre the 3rd fret with the ring finger playing the 5th fret.

UKULELE MIKE LYNCH - All things UKULELE
“Let It Be” is a song by the Beatles, released in March 1970 as a single, and (in an alternate mix) as the title track of their album Let It Be. At the time, it had the highest debut on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching number 6. It was written and sung by Paul McCartney. It was their final single before McCartney announced his departure from the band. Both the Let It Be album and the US single “The Long and Winding Road” were released after McCartney’s announced departure from and subsequent break-up of the group.
The alternate mix on their album “Let It Be” features an additional guitar solo and some minor differences in the orchestral sections.
In 1987, the song was recorded by charity supergroupFerry Aid (which included McCartney). It reached number 1 on the UK Singles Chart for…

My arrangement of “Try To Remember” is in a Chord/Melody format. No fingerpicking is required. . . Only a gentle roll of the thumb across the strings will provide both Melody and Chordal accompaniment. . . . Take a look at the example below:

Note that the melody begins on up on the 1st string then drops to the second. Be sure that when it drops to the second that you don’t strum the FIRST string. This is one of the main differences between strumming to accompany sinning and solo ukulele performance. It takes some time and patience to get used to this style of playing. . . . But the time spent is well worth it. . . .

“The Glory Of Love” is a song written by Billy Hill, recorded by Benny Goodman in 1936, whose version was a number one pop hit. In 1951, R&B vocal group, The Five Keys, had their biggest R&B hit with their version of the song, hitting number one on the R&B chart for four non-consecutive weeks. Although The Five keys recording sold a reported million copies pressed recordings are very rare.
